The Renegade: Add 1 Former Player to 2019 Roster

The 2019 Steelers are full of a lot of talent and will be competing for a playoff spot just like they always do. However, every team can always improve; so what former Steeler would we add to this current team to help them get over the hump to win their 7th Lombardi trophy?

Aaron: Troy Polamalu

This team needs a playmaker on defense and I can’t think of anyone better to fill that role than the flying Hawaiian! Whether it was leaping over centers, making one handed interceptions, or providing the clutch play such as clinching the 2008 AFC championship vs. the Ravens or providing the strip sack in 2010 to beat the Ravens, he could do it all and would be an amazing addition to this team. I like Sean Davis and Terrell Edmunds, but neither is a big playmaker like Troy and the addition of Troy would probably cause Sean Davis to come off the bench and do some hybrid work in the box. If only this could happen!!

Ryan: Rod Woodson

I was going to go with Mel Blount for his size, but he played a style of game that the NFL frowns upon nowadays and even with the new Pass Interference rules, he'd get flagged a few times a game. The CB position looks better in 2019 than it did in 2018, for sure, but put a shutdown corner opposite of Joe Haden - Keith Butler would have the #1 defense in the NFL. Woodson holds the NFL record for fumble recoveries (32) and pick-6's (12). Plus 71 career interceptions is 3rd-most in NFL history. Most importantly, the Steelers need to create turnovers in 2019, Woodson did that occasionally.

Emily: Jerome Bettis

Yes, that's a baby me with The Bus.

This is purely a selfish and biased pick. Jerome Bettis might be my favorite Steelers player ever. I remember when he was picked to go into the NFL HOF, and how excited me and my family were. The reason for my pick is though we lost Bell at the RB position last year (not that he even, you know, played the season before), I would geek out if I got to see The Bus and James Conner in the backfield together. He's a top 10 leading rusher in NFL history and, paired with the Pittsburgh star that is James Conner, we'd quite literally be unstoppable in the run game.

What former player would you add to the current Steelers? Let us know and thanks for reading! Here We Go Steelers!
