Panther Talk: Team MVP Predictions

Welcome back for our next segment of Panther Talk! Today we are predicting MVPs for the 2019 Panthers and introducing a new writer for us, Emily, who will be joining our Pitt writing team! What players are going to help most to light the victory lights this year? Let's find out!

Offensive MVP

Aaron: Kenny Pickett. Even if you are not on my Pickett hype train, it is hard to pick anyone else with only 5 returning starters.

Ryan: Kenny Pickett. This is the easier answer, but I went back and forth with another player here and I decided to make them my team MVP instead...

Emily: Hmm how do I not say Kenny now? Considering the offense needs him to perform to score, and points win games, he's my choice.

TGYK Sleeper Pick: Tight End. Literally, any tight end. If a guy on this team can step up and step in to a position we have been struggling to fill in recent years, it will only expand our offense and help us get back into 2016 scoring shape.

Defensive MVP

Aaron: Rashad Weaver. He has shown the ability to cause havoc and he will be a regular in opposing team backfields this season!

Ryan: Damar Hamlin. The whole secondary is shaping up to be shutdown, but this man does it all from the safety position.

Emily: Damar Hamlin. He's quick, strong, and fairly experienced...coming off a great year. Show us how it's done, Damar.

TGYK Sleeper Pick: Patrick Jones II. Weaver may be one of the best pass rushers in the ACC but Jones looks like he has the best motor on Pitt's D-Line. Plus, as a pass-rusher he is powerful and will get overlooked because of Weaver.

Team MVP

Aaron: Maurice Ffrench. He can run, catch, return kicks, walk your dog, fix your car.... oh, and he can pass (maybe pass... work some magic, Mark Whipple) !

Ryan: ^^^He copied my homework. Maurice Ffrench was going to be my offensive MVP, but he's also one of the most dynamic returners in the country.

Emily: I really, really, really want Kenny to be the MVP this year, because that makes me excited for what that would mean about our season. Pls Kenny.

TGYK Sleeper Pick: Mark Whipple. His offense can completely change the image of this team and we cannot wait to see it on the field!

Who are your offensive, defensive, and team MVPs for this season? Let us know and thanks for reading! As always, Hail to Pitt!
