In the countdown to kickoff, not only are we tackling analysis for each position group, we're throwing up our bold Pitt football predictions. Last week we threw out our contenders for team MVP's, this week we're giving you our picks for 2019 Breakout Players. There are a number of candidates and it was hard to trim the list; here's who made the final cut:
Paris Ford

Ford has all the skills to be an all around safety who can make tackles in the box along with making plays in coverage. During the spring game, he was the best player on the field and we expect him to truly become a game changer in 2019.
Shocky Jacques-Louis

Speed... I am speed. Lightning McQueen said it best and the same applies to Shocky as he has some lightning speed. With RaRa Lopes graduating, we expect Shocky to breakout as the #3 receiver and slot receiver fot Pitt and make some great plays over the middle of the field in Whipple's new offense.
Carter Warren

He's a BIG BOY and was voted one of the winners of the Ed Conway Award given out to most improved players during spring practice. Carter has the skill and size to be a very good tackle for this team that is going to have three new starters on the offensive line. If Carter can be steady at tackle, it can take this team a long way since this was one of the weaknesses on the team last year as Alex Bookser played out of position. With the majority of the O-line up for grabs, we had to pick one candidate and Warren seemed like the guy for us.
Jaylen Twyman
 |

With Shane Roy (who Aaron says is the most average Pitt player of all time) graduating, it finally frees a spot for Twyman to gain more playing time and show off his skills. Twyman is extremely fast off the ball and has eerily similar measureables to a certain NFL Defensive MVP. Having steadily improved last season where his best game was against Clemson in the ACC Championship - expect him to have a huge year.
Cam Bright
 |

When Cam Bright is on the field, he cannot be missed as he has some great speed and seems to be in on every play; similar to Wirginis who always seemed to make plays right when Pitt needed one. He POPS off the field and he should play a huge role in this teams success on defense this year and assume one of the starting OLB roles. We cannot wait to watch him rush the passer with his speed and chase down running backs and receivers on the outside.
Who do you think will be a breakout player for Pitt in 2019? Let us know and thanks for reading!
As always, Hail to Pitt!
-Aaron and Ryan, TGYK
