Panther Talk: Why Recruits Should Come to Pitt

http://rcco.pitt.edu/
As Pitt alumni we love the Oakland campus for all of its flair and charm and we see it as another home, but it seems like not all recruits see it the way we do. Understandably, it can be hard to fall in love with a school after only a one weekend visit. So we set out, on our first mission as true journalists, to ask some of Pitt's finest - Why should recruits come to Pitt? - here's what they had to say!:

Share a Facility with the Steelers

"Uhh well, obviously, man, sharing the same facility with us allows you to smell and taste the greatness every morning before practice. You gotta appreciate that. And you know, you get to practice next to star players like Ben, umm, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell... uhh wait, next question" -Head Coach, Mike Tomlin

Jerseys

"Alongside Pitt's athletic leadership, we put in so much effort to making everything pop! From the new logo, to the stripes, and the font, Mrs.Lyke wouldn't approve of any jerseys we came up with until research proved them to be nicer than every other school in the ACC; which wasn't hard to overcome schools like Lousiville, Miami, GT, and NCST since they're Adidas. We went days literally locked in a room until we came up with designs that great. Hope you all love the two combo's we came up with. Just think, even if you lose, at least you always look better!" - Nike Design Team

Great Athletic Legacy

"With a history of so many All-Americans, Pro's, Olympians, and National Championships we really take pride in the history and tradition of Pitt athletics; So much so, we constantly remind students of it in all of our pregame videos. But ya know, Heather has done such a good job getting new donors in that if we finally get a new championship [It's been a while..], you'll probably get a statue." - EJ Borghetti, Executive Associate Athletic Director, Media Relations, and Pitt Twitter Celebrity

South Oakland

"The off-campus living is better than any school in the nation. What other college town has $5 pizzas and a bar (AD's) named after one of its great football players? Actually, I guess I am just being a little nostalgic because those do not exist anymore. At least the apartments are still habitable." -Former Pitt Panther and Current Los Angeles Ram Star, Aaron Donald

Athletic Department in the "Pete"

"Bro, the location of the athletic department is perfect; you get a leg day just by walking up the hill and you can even get a quick pump in the gym, bro. Being up on the hill lets you procrastinate so much easier...oh bruh there's a Burger King in the Pete!" -Anonymous Frat Bro, bro

$5 Shot Pitchers at Hemingway's

"Where else can you go to on a Thursday night to get a delicious long island pitcher for $5 after losing to a 1-8 UNC team." -Former Pitt QB, Ben Dinucci

Walking to Class in Classic Pittsburgh Winter Weather

"Southern schools have it too easy. By walking to class in snow and in freezing temperatures, our students get an extra free experience to their education that builds character. Those SEC schools are soft, as evident by their football teams." -Pitt Chancellor, Patrick Gallagher

Scenic Route to Practice

"The ride down to the practice facility is pretty nice, I guess, ya know, since it's in the South Side. We get to go on the coolest bus where I get extra sleep. Plus we get to see that BEAUTIFUL Mon river and laugh at people stuck in all the traffic. You could say it's a pretty scenic view" - Former Pitt Safety, Jordan Whitehead

The Food (Protein)

"The food is great. Chicken. Steak. Protein shakes. Protein bars. Straight protein powder. We really had it all for our diet. My only complaint is not enough protein." - Former Pitt Fullback George Aston, current badass

Victory Lights

"It's so confusing. Never noticed it before. I mean it's really cool. And bright. I usually don't like bright, but I can see it from everywhere. It's also at the top of the Cathedral - better spot for brooding. It's more acceptable than the old bat-signal. But they leave it on all weekend to gloat their victory, so I leave Robin there"  - Batman, Justice League Member

We read these responses and think to ourselves, how can any five star recruit turn down a Pitt experience for a school like Alabama? Maybe, you all can help us understand this better. Thanks for reading!

-Aaron and Ryan, TGYK

P.S: No actual quotes were taken for this article and we hope you picked up on our satire so that you do not hate us! Hail to Pitt!!
